Studying Public Management

When it came down to choosing a major, I was at first seduced by engineering, I just loved the fact of making a lot of money until I discovered my public duty, It changed my whole perspective. Since that moment I started to look other options more related with the humanities.

At first I thought of Laws, Political science, until my teacher told me about public management. That afternoon I went home and immediately searched the structure of that study program, it was love at first sight, It had everything I always wanted to study, since that moment, I knew this was my place in the world.

About my university options, I always thought about Chile, but I do not reject the idea of doing a post-graduate program in other country, if I come across with the possibility, I would not think it twice, specially in England. In Chile this university was not my first choice, I always thought  of Universidad de Antofagasta as a first option and Universidad de Chile as an unlikely one.

Luckily for me I was accepted here. To me this experience, besides of being difficult to be away of  my family, especially to a family guy like me, has been great, I enjoy the majority of the subjects, especially the ones related to public administration, because they make me understand the dynamics of the Chilean state, but the most important thing these subjects have taught me is to think outside the box, be creative and adaptable to new situations in order to create more "public value".

Pets

At the begining I wasn´t a fan of pets and animals in general terms, I didn't hate them,  I simply didn't like them, and this dislike was related to the fact that I am very coward, so more than a dislike it was that I was afraid of them, specially dogs. All that fear to the animals changed in november of 2014, that month my sister came with the idea of having a dog, I completely rejected that idea, but I don't know how she convinced me, she is very persuasive, so we went to the animal shelter, and there he was, a little puppy, extremely shy and white as the snow.  My sister and I inmediately fell in love, he was really cute and he still is. So we adopted him. After he came to our house, he had a radical change, he stopped being that shy dog and became the most playful and naughty dog I had ever known, He is one of the best things that ever happend to me, this experience changed a 100% my old thought about animals, know I love them, and here is a funny thing, n...

MY FUTURE JOB

Unlike most young people, I have thought a lot about my future, although any future projection can change, especially at this age, I would like to have a job related to teaching, a job that alows me to be linked to the scholar's world. Before entering the university I felt a strong attraction to social research, and when I entered the university that attraction became stronger, so that's where this idea, of having a carrer in education, started to appear on my thoughts. As far as I know, that job has the requirement of having post-graduate studies, ideally a master's degree and a PhD, so studying after finishing my current study program is an imperative for me. The post-graduate study that I would like to take would obviously be related to public policy, about the country, that is a matter I do not have much concern, but if I had to choose I would prefer one in which the people speak english. About the salary, the truth that is not a thing that worries me, as lon...

A COUNTRY I'D LIKE TO VISIT A COUNTRY I'D LIKE TO VISIT

A country that I would like to go is England,  a country that is part of the United Kingdom, it is located on the island of Great Britain, which is in the North Atlantic. It shares land borders with Scotland and Wales. I would like to go there for studying a postgraduate degree related to my career, Public Administration, I would like to do it at the London School of Economics and Political Science, a public research university and a constituent college of the federal University of London. Besides I would actually like to live there for a while, a period of my life, longer than the time that I will be spending studying the postgraduate. Why this country, Well,  I always have preferred the windy and cloudy weather, so that´s a bonus point, besides the weather I had always felt a deep mixture of admiration and curiosity for the England´s culture, I like that communion of the modern occidental culture and the Victorian culture, a blend that still persist in many things ...
